Alex Blum

Alex Blum, 77, of 646 Galloway St., died Monday at the Eau Claire Manor.

He was born in Milwaukee and married Julia Gustavson May 21, 1946 in LaCrosse.


He was a member of the Eau Claire Fire Department and retired in 1955 after 30 years of service.  He then worked for the E.M. Hale Co., retiring in 1967.  He served with the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific as a fire training instructor.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Joan Lillis, Eau Claire; two brothers, Daniel, San Diego, Cal.; Emanuel, Desert Hot Springs, Cal.; three grandchildren and five great-grand children.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Stokes and Sons Funeral Chapel with burial at the Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Military rites will be held at the graveside by members of VFW Post 305 of which he was a member.
