The Reputed
History:
Many years ago, a
young boy living in the house was witness to a cattle
theft. Later, the cattle rustlers, knowing that the boy
had been an eyewitness, returned and stabbed him to death.
To this day the boy haunts the house.
|
|
The
Investigation:
This was the site
of the "Polk County Home" from 1870-1950. We have been
unable to verify the story about the boy and his death.
|
|
The Reputed
Phenomena:
Apparitions of the boy have been seen in
the house.
|
|
The
Investigation:
The owner verified that
when the house was being
renovated, workers reported seeing a young boy in the window at
a time when there were no children living in the house.
The
Poor Farm is also home to an unmarked cemetery. This cemetery is
located in the back yard of the Poor Farm. However, the original
location of the cemetery is across the road from the front yard
of the farm. At some unknown date the cemetery was moved from
the front yard into its current resting place in the back. The
current owner has also stated that on several occasions the
farmer who owns the land of the original cemetery will dig up
parts of the bodies that did not get moved with the rest of the
cemetery.
